About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Business Leader to join our Retail Banking team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the business performance, forecasting, and planning disciplines to monitor and support the execution of our International Banking Retail strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate executive insights to showcase the performance and drivers of financial and non-financial key performance indicators of the International Banking Retail business line.
  • Design and produce dynamic performance measurement frameworks and tools to track execution of strategy by segment, product, and channel.
  • Lead the annual planning process, partnering with Segment, Product, Channel, and Country Leaders, and ensuring alignment to International Banking Retail long-term strategy.
  • Develop forecasts to better understand the impact of business strategies on Retail client dynamics to support primary client and profitability growth.
  • Lead financial modeling practice to support business case development, identifying contribution to International Banking Retail financial and non-financial indicators.
  • Act as the main liaison with International Banking Finance, GRM, and International Banking Analytics.
  • Oversee operating budget planning and day-to-day management for International Banking Retail central team in adherence with the Bank's expense policies.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision making and coach stakeholders in the proper use of analytical frameworks, methods, and tools.
  • Act as the main data steward of business performance indicators, providing guidance on key performance indicators definition and strategic alignment, and increasing awareness of them across the organization.
  • Lead strategic business analysis leveraging client financial and non-financial data, identifying growth or operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicate the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred in Business/Finance/Economics.
  • Minimum of 10 years' leadership experience in the financial sector.
  • Demonstrated strategic influencing ability, and a high degree of collaboration with senior leadership, different countries, business lines, and multiple teams.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a result-oriented and problem-solving mindset and solid ability of seeing beyond the numbers to improve business performance.
  • Proven experience in planning, forecasting, and performance management disciplines.
  • Expertise in Advanced Analytics discipline, including Big Data analytics, AI/Machine Learning. Comfortable providing direction to leverage data to drive business decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: can convey messages in a clear, concise, and succinct manner, select the best method of communication to influence business decisions.
  • Experience in applying agile principles and practices.
  • Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is an asset.
