Job Overview

This role is responsible for leading pricing and product development initiatives in the Group Life & Health business. As Chief Actuary, you will play a critical part in ensuring our products are marketable and contribute to the profitability of the company.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role that requires working in our office in Waterloo, ON, with a minimum of two assigned days every other week, plus a fifth assigned day per month. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Pricing Group Life & Health products to ensure market competitiveness and profitability
  • Directing pricing change initiatives and recommending updates to address emerging trends and market changes
  • Ensuring sound interpretation and application of actuarial theories and techniques
  • Data management and analytics to inform pricing decisions
  • Developing new reporting to better identify risks or opportunities to Group's growth and profitability
Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree in Mathematics or equivalent, along with completion of FSA, FCIA requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of insurance experience, preferably including some experience in Group
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the Group Life & Health business, including Actuarial methods and Underwriting practices
  • Technical competence in Excel and other actuarial tools
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff in their professional and leadership development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
