Job Description

The General Manager plays a key role in the administrative and managerial direction of our company. The ideal candidate will have experience in management, budgeting, finance, and marketing, as well as a strong understanding of the Vancouver and Canadian performing arts community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage annual operating budgets with the Artistic Director
  • Liaise with bookkeepers and auditors at year-end
  • Manage operating and production budgets, as well as cash flow
  • Apply for grants with the Artistic Director
  • Fundraise through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Supervise show-related departments, including Box Office, Production, and Volunteer Coordination
  • Hire part-time, full-time, and seasonal employees in consultation with the Artistic Director
  • Supervise support staff
  • Negotiate contracts with self-employed personnel and other organizations
  • Evaluate compliance with collective agreements with the Artistic Director
  • Oversee Touchstone's training program
  • Contribute to strategic planning and visioning with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director

Requirements:

  • University degree in arts administration or comparable experience
  • Management experience in office systems, budgeting, finance, CADAC, and marketing
  • Familiarity with the Vancouver and Canadian performing arts community and the Canadian Theatre Agreement
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Enthusiasm for a collaborative work environment and partnership-building
  • Interest in diversity initiatives
  • Minimum 5 years experience at ideally two Canadian theatre organizations

Compensation Package:

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience. This includes benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as professional development opportunities.
