Intensive Care Unit Nurse

The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at OSMH is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with the hospital's mission, vision, and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the ICU, ensuring the highest level of care and compassion for patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, identifying and addressing potential risks and complications.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Monitor and manage patient vital signs, responding promptly to changes or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines, research, and best practices in critical care nursing.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.
- Completion of Coronary Care I & II (or equivalent) and proficiency in arrhythmia analysis within the past two years to ACLS standards is required.
- Defibrillation and External pacemaker skills to departmental standards are required.
- Successful completion of an exam to administer life-saving medication within the orientation period is required.
- Current Patient Assessment Course within three years is required (exempt if newly graduated within the past three years).
- Two years of medical/surgical experience is required.
- BSCN is preferred.
- Preference given to nurses with ACLS, Certified Coronary Care Courses, and Critical Care Certificate from a college or hospital-based program in keeping with CCSO Standards.
- Canadian Critical Care Certification is an asset.
