The Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and taxation, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in public practice. The Senior Manager will be responsible for supervising the preparation of financial statements, reviewing the work of staff accountants, and completing complex portions of the file.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising the preparation of financial statements of business clients
  • Reviewing the work of staff accountants and completing complex portions of the file
  • Maintaining high quality control by overseeing and reviewing compilation and review engagements
  • Reviewing corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns and other tax forms
  • Reviewing, investigating, and correcting discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
  • Making recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Performing technical research, developing, and documenting tax planning recommendations for individuals and corporations
  • Assisting with the execution of corporate reorganizations
  • Overseeing the organization and prioritization of the work of staff accountants, including the management of engagement costs and billings
  • Mentoring and supporting the professional development needs of staff accountants
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring their needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop
  • Contributing to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • CA or CPA designation, with a minimum of 5 years of public practice experience dealing with the accounting and taxation needs of private companies and their shareholders
  • Comprehensive experience in compilation and review preparation
  • Experience leading and supervising staff
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Proficient in Caseware and Profile
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office)
