Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care Specialist to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide consultative services to healthcare professionals, assess and develop educational programs, and promote expertise in nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct skin/wound/ostomy examinations, interview clients, and review charts to provide consultative services to healthcare professionals.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs within the clinical area, in collaboration with the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing and the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Wound Care.
  • Develop tools to evaluate the effectiveness of resources and educational programs.
  • Demonstrate and promote expertise and provide leadership in nursing practice through methods such as reviewing literature in the specialty area, consulting with experts, evaluating clinical practice, and role modeling direct client care skills to staff.
  • Provide direct care to clients with wound/ostomy care needs and perform advanced nursing skills within the area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Two years recent, related advanced wound/ostomy/continence care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Successful completion of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Institute of Canada (NSWOCC) - Wound, Ostomy, Continence Education Program (WOC-EP) or the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurse Certificate (WOCN).
