About the Opportunity

We are seeking a certified Pathology Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will work closely with pathologists and medical laboratory technologists to provide expertise in the initial assessment of surgically removed tissues and evaluate gross pathologic features used to assist in diagnosis.

The successful candidate will possess the knowledge, technical abilities, and problem-solving skills to perform Gross Room and Autopsy activities following procedures, processes, protocols, and policies under the direction of the pathologist and laboratory management team.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, and medical terminology. The ideal candidate will have certification as a Pathology Assistant by the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA) or by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) and a graduate degree in Pathology Assistant studies.

The successful candidate will also have experience working with Cerner LIS and Dragon, and possess excellent customer service, leadership, and technical skills. Fluency in French is an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. Shift work and weekends/holidays are required, and travel may be necessary. The hourly rate is $45.40.
