About the Role

The University of Regina is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthy Workplace Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in promoting a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management and Development of Guidelines and Procedures:
    • Develop and implement integrated case management strategies for employees with illnesses or injuries.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish guidelines and procedures for workplace accommodations and return-to-work programs.
    • Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Provision of Expertise in Assessing Disability Benefits, Disability Case Management, and Healthy Lifestyle Initiatives:
    • Work with insurance providers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate benefit payments and claims processing.
    • Develop and implement stay-at-work and return-to-work strategies to support employees with disabilities.
    • Collaborate with employees and management to develop and implement healthy lifestyle initiatives.
  • Communication and Education:
    • Develop and deliver educational seminars and workshops on disability management, workplace accommodations, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Collaborate with employees and management to promote awareness and understanding of healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Analysis and Monitoring of Trends:
    • Track and analyze statistics on employee health and wellness, including illness and injury trends, sick leave usage, and disability claims.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based health strategies to promote employee health and wellness.
  • Provision of Work Restriction Analysis and Recommendations:
    • Conduct physical demands analysis and risk assessments to identify workplace hazards and develop control measures.
    • Provide recommendations for workplace modifications and accommodations to support employees with disabilities.
  • University Liaison:
    • Represent the University in stakeholder meetings and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, and external partners.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in a related health discipline, such as nursing or occupational health.
  • Experience: Three to five years of experience in disability claims management, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Skills: Thorough knowledge of third-party insurance processes, accident and injury claims, and workers' compensation. Demonstrated understanding and application of health and wellness best practices. Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
