Job Summary

The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking an experienced Neonatologist to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to newborns and infants.

About the Role

This is a permanent position with a salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience. You will work 35 hours per week and will be required to have a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry, as well as 5 years or more of experience in a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
  • Prescribe medication and treatment
  • Refer patients for surgery
  • Treat diseases and physiological disorders
  • Prepare research papers for publication and presentation
  • Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases
  • Act as consultants to other physicians
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures

Work Environment

You will work in a hospital setting, which can be fast-paced and physically demanding. You will be required to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel. You must also be able to distinguish between colors and have manual dexterity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
  • Specialization in Clinical Medicine, specifically Neonatology
