Strategic Financial Operations Manager

This position reports directly to the LD Controller, Service.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Analyst, you will provide financial expertise to the Electrification Service Division (ELSE) in Canada. Your primary objectives include benchmarking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) while collaborating with other finance professionals to understand the drivers of financial performance. You will identify trends relevant to the business and provide timely analysis of financial results, budget, and forecasts to support ABB Group management and other stakeholders at various organization levels in decision-making processes.
You will be responsible for acting as a support to the finance team and the business operations, supporting all financial and commercial matters while actively driving business performance.
Main Accountabilities:
- • Analyzing business performance versus budget and forecast, and proposing improvement actions accordingly.
- • Ensuring alignment with Accounting Policy, Internal Controls, and Assurance, maintaining proper audit trails and documentation for future audits.
- • Performing month-end activities, including account analyses, account reconciliations, preparing and posting journal entries, SOX controls, variance analyses, and reports for management review.
- • Reviewing and classifying income and expenditures accurately and ensuring compliance with ABB procedures in general accounting practices and policies.
- • Supporting the preparation of financial reporting, business planning, budgeting, and forecasting documents, and presentations.
- • Optimizing performance to increase productivity by developing automated solutions, eliminating duplication, and coordinating information requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
This role requires a strong academic background in finance or a related field. The ideal candidate should have 2-5 years of experience in an accounting or financial analyst role, demonstrating proficiency in financial acumen, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Familiarity with computerized accounting systems and financial reporting software, including SAP, Oracle, or related financial systems, is also essential. Knowledge of SAP is required, and experience with Power BI is an advantage. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, are necessary. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, accountability, and multitasking abilities. Bilingualism (French and English) is a requirement, with French being the primary language and English used for communication with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis. This role is based in Montreal, QC, and offers a hybrid work arrangement (2 days office-based).
