About the SEED Program

The Supportive Environments and Experiences for Development (SEED) program is a national early childhood development initiative coordinated by the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada. SEED targets parents and other primary caregivers of Ismaili children from birth to four years of age. The purpose of the program is to support parents and families in their engagement and involvement in their children's learning and development during the early years. Weekly group sessions enable experience-based facilitated sessions for parents/caregivers and their children, promoting music and movement, early literacy, spirituality and faith-based, and school-readiness experiences.

SEED is based on the following principles:

  • Being a parent may be the most important and most challenging role we play in a child's life.
  • Parents generally know more than anyone else about their child and what is best for their child.
  • Engaged and involved parenting is essential for children's learning and development.
  • All parents can use extra information and support that can help them to make the best decisions about their child's health, growth, education, and well-being.

The purpose of this program is to provide extra support and information to parents in this important and challenging role they play. The program additionally aims to help parents to foster Ismaili Muslim values in their children from an early age.

About the Role

As a SEED Program Coordinator, you will provide overall coordination and management for the implementation of the SEED program within your designated center. This includes:

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with families and volunteers at the center.
  • Collaborating effectively with Jamati Mukhi-Kamadia Sahebs and IV leadership.
  • Working closely with the ITREB Pre-Primary/BUI Program at your center.
  • Assisting in the development of SEED center and training schedules at the start of each academic year, in collaboration with ECD members and Regional Master Trainers.
  • Communicating program schedules to families and volunteers promptly and effectively.
  • Ensuring that the center adheres to standardized regional procedures for quality management and program delivery, working closely with the ECD member.
  • Maintaining accurate records of family and volunteer attendance at each session and submitting reports through the national reporting process in a timely manner.
  • Managing registration processes and fee collection for families each term.
  • Taking responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of supply bins, reporting any missing or used items to the ECD member and Regional SEED Convener for replenishment.
  • Ensuring that the SEED space is treated with respect and reverence during program activities.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized SEED space after each session, ensuring it is ready for other community services.

About You

You possess strong leadership skills, experience in team building, problem-solving, and facilitating productive outcomes. You are mature, reliable, flexible, and professional with a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Your experience working with children and families is valuable, and prior experience with SEED is an asset.

You have demonstrated project management skills and experience.
