We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Faculty Member to join our team at Martin Luther University College. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned academic with expertise in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy to contribute to the growth and development of our programs.
About the RoleThis full-time, limited-term position involves teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, supervising students, conducting research, and participating in community life. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of exceptional teaching experience, significant clinical experience in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy, published research, and excellent administrative and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching:
- Teach a maximum of four graduate and/or undergraduate courses/year in the field of spiritual care and psychotherapy as assigned by the Principal-Dean.
- Advise PhD students throughout their academic journey, including comprehensive papers, proposals, and doctoral dissertations.
- Advise MA-SCP students on academic progress, vocational direction, and clinical placements.
- Guest teaching as needed for undergraduate courses.
- Relate to other Laurier and Luther departments and practicum partners to identify, develop, and support cooperation in academic programs, research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Research:
- Engage in scholarship, research, and publication that advances developments in the field of Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
- Community:
- Participate in the community life of Luther and its events.
- Work with community partners as needed (faith communities, clinical partners, agencies, CRPO).
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of three years' experience in undergraduate and/or graduate-level teaching in the field of Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
- Minimum of five years of extensive clinical experience in the field of Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
- An earned PhD or equivalent degree.
- Certification with appropriate associations, including with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO) or another recognized regulatory body.
- Proven ability to undertake research and publish in peer-reviewed forums.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic planning.
- Ability to work with churches and faith communities.
The salary for this position is estimated to be between $90,000 and $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
