Overview

The University of Waterloo is seeking a skilled Administrative Manager to provide leadership and support for the department's administrative functions. This role will oversee various tasks, including financial planning, human resources management, and facilities maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective administrative support to the Associate Chair(s) and other senior staff members
  • Assist with faculty recruiting procedures, including creating candidate files and monitoring application progress
  • Manage faculty appointments, annual reviews, and tenure and promotion processes
  • Liaise with the Office of Research for departmental activities and monitor expenditures on faculty research grants and projects
  • Oversee departmental communications, including mailing lists and social media platforms
  • Serve as Health and Safety Coordinator and Fire Warden, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations
  • Maintain personnel files, work schedules, and vacation records for faculty and staff
  • Process graduate scholarships and payment of awards

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in an academic environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with budgets, human resources management, and supervision of staff
  • Experience leading through change processes and conflict management
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, customer service, and communication skills

Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum
