About the Role

DNEG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Grooming Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our Build department, you will be responsible for creating believable hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures on high-end VFX film projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly detailed and realistic hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures.
  • Collaborate with the Modelling, Lookdev, and CFX teams to ensure the best quality work is being produced.
  • Develop and maintain grooming tools and workflows to improve department efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams as needed.
  • Participate in tools, pipeline, and workflow meetings to ensure seamless collaboration.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in high-end VFX feature films, with a focus on grooming.
  • Expertise in proprietary or third-party grooming tools, with a preference for Houdini.
  • Strong understanding of tool creation in Houdini and experience with grooming software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of logic and artistic direction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of your work.
