About the Role

DNEG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Grooming Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our Build department, you will be responsible for creating believable hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures on high-end VFX film projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly detailed and realistic hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures.
  • Collaborate with the Modelling, Lookdev, and CFX teams to ensure the best quality work is being produced.
  • Develop and maintain tools and pipeline to improve department groom workflow and techniques.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams as required.
  • Participate in tools, pipeline, and workflow meetings.
  • Maintain documentation for tools development and studio protocols.

Requirements

  • Proven production experience on high-end VFX feature films.
  • Experience with proprietary or third-party grooming tools (Houdini preferred).
  • Experience of tool creation in Houdini.
  • Strong attention to detail and a sense of logic and artistic direction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of your work.
  • Experience meeting deadlines while retaining a high quality of work.
