We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Vancouver Airport Authority. As a key member of our Health and Safety Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, tenants, and passengers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Health and Safety Programs: Design and implement proactive and leading-edge health and safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment, including conducting inspections, risk assessments, internal audits, and incident investigations.
- Administer Safety Training: Deliver safety training to employees, including Supervisor Safety Leadership training, FLHA use, new employee orientations, and computer-based training modules on various topics.
- Manage Priorities and Projects: Manage multiple priorities, such as conducting indoor environmental quality assessments, noise dosimetry assessments, and liaising with tenants and airlines on indoor environmental quality issues.
- Develop and Sustain Relationships: Develop and sustain cooperative working relationships at all levels while overseeing corporate programs, including Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, WHMIS, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Monitor Safety Metrics and Data: Monitor organizational safety metrics, data analytics, and health and safety management technology tools.
- Support Business Partners: Support designated business partners on meeting safety objectives, incident investigations, training, and other related activities.
- Minimum 5 Years of Experience: Minimum five years of recent, related progressive experience, supplemented by a post-secondary degree in health and safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Designations and Certifications: Preference given to Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designations.
- Experience and Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in executing and operating successful health and safety programs and management systems, thorough knowledge of federal and provincial regulations governing occupational health and safety.
