GreenFirst Forest Products is an industry leader in sustainable forest management, committed to responsible practices and excellence in all aspects of our operations. We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team at our Kapuskasing, ON (Sawmill) location.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled HR professional to contribute to our site's Human Resources function. As a key member of our team, you will provide expertise in various HR fields, including performance management, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, absenteeism management, labor relations, organizational development, training needs assessment, and benefits. Your primary goal will be to achieve world-class performance within a safe working environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Promote and support Health & Safety programs to increase employee awareness
  • Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed regarding mill and department priorities
  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations
  • Build and maintain business relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and issues, and play a key role in realizing their business objectives
  • Assist and coach managers and supervisory teams in employee management and application of HR policies and programs
  • Participate in identifying training needs for staff and unionized employees
  • Oversee and report on Site Absenteeism Management Program
  • Manage scheduling (Training, Onboarding, Vacation Management)
  • Track and report on Overtime standards
  • Provide consistent interpretation and counsel for the collective agreements' application in alignment with business priorities and objectives
  • Coach managers and supervisory teams on disciplinary process
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in preparation of negotiations
  • Provide regular reviews of workforce requirements to achieve operational goals and forecast job vacancies
  • Actively participate in recruiting process – Provide Labour Status Reports
  • Lead and participate in onboarding program for new and seasonal employees
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees who are leaving the Company
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset
  • 5+ years experience in an industrial unionized environment
  • Business acumen, sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written) – an asset
Estimated Salary Range:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
