We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our team at GreenFirst Forest Products, located in Kapuskasing, Ontario. This is a full-time position with an estimated annual salary of $85,000-$110,000, depending on experience.

Job Description:

This role will be accountable for contributing to the site's Human Resources function by providing expertise in various HR fields such as performance management, recruitment, hiring and onboarding, absenteeism management, labor relations, organizational development, training needs assessment and benefits to assigned business units.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Promote and support Health & Safety programs to increase employee awareness
  • Maintain a communications program to keep teams informed regarding mill and department priorities
  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations
  • Build and maintain business relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and issues and playing a key-role in the realization of their business objectives
  • Assist and coach managers and supervisory teams in day-to-day challenges pertaining to employee management and the application of HR policies and programs
  • Participate in identifying training needs for staff and unionized employees
  • Oversee/report on Site Absenteeism Management Program
  • Manage scheduling (Training, Onboarding, Vacation Management)
  • Track and report on Overtime standards
  • Provide consistent interpretation and counsel for the collective agreements application in alignment with business priorities and objectives
  • Coach managers and supervisory teams on disciplinary process
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in preparation of negotiations
  • Provide regular reviews of workforce requirements to achieve operational goals and forecast job vacancies
  • Actively participate in recruiting process – Provide Labour Status Reports
  • Lead and participate in onboarding program for new and seasonal employees
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees leaving the company
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, or business administration
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset
  • 5+ years experience in an industrial unionized environment
  • Business acumen, sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written) is an asset
