Research Laboratory Technician

About the Role
Queen's University is seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a key member of our chemistry department, you will be responsible for providing technical support in the field of chemistry and the use of related equipment.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the field of chemistry and the use of related equipment.
- Ensure the daily operations of undergraduate laboratories, preparation rooms, and undergraduate instrumentation facilities (UIF).
- Demonstrate the highest standards of safety, ensuring that the premises and equipment are used in a safe manner, and that all departmental safety regulations are adhered to.
- Assist with the development and testing of new experimental procedures for laboratory experiments and lecture demonstrations.
Requirements
- Completion of a 3-year college diploma in chemistry with 2 years of on-the-job training.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet daily lab preparation deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
The incumbent will work in a laboratory environment and must be able to multitask, coping well with the pressure of having to deal with many people at one time.
