Our Materials Engineering Technologist (Senior Level) will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as research activities in the department.


Job Summary


The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on the safe use of laboratory equipment and materials. This will include ensuring compliance with departmental safety procedures and protocols, as well as providing input on the development of new laboratory methods and procedures.


Responsibilities



  • Provide technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on the safe use of laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental safety procedures and protocols.
  • Provide input on the development of new laboratory methods and procedures.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff and faculty to develop and implement laboratory safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement procedures for the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of laboratory safety training programs.
  • Monitor and report on laboratory safety incidents and near-misses.

Requirements



  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a focus on materials engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
