Kitchener, Ontario, Canada Index Exchange Full time

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Science Engineer to join our team as an Engineering Lead Manager, Data Science. As a key member of our Machine Learning and Optimization organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and production of our ML and data science algorithms and usage of our data pipelines.

Our systems process over 350 billion auction events every day, and Index's scale spans the globe, with transactions happening 24/7 in our global data centers. Every second that passes millions of requests are evaluated across our exchange, making global efficiency and reliability absolutely key to achieving our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: You will chart a technical path for products, systems, and architectures, guiding others while being hands-on in the code. Your role is to represent the technical health and future of the products you support and apply industry best practices towards designs and implementations.
  • People Leadership: You will work with and lead a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, demonstrating mentorship skills and setting a technical vision to challenge your team in a way that empowers them to have incredible impact.
  • Handler of Broad Scope: You will thrive in environments where multiple projects and initiatives are under your ownership in different maturity levels, self-managing your own and your team's time in each of the projects to achieve the highest impact on the organization.
  • Driver of Outcomes: You will establish a vision or hypothesis, set a direction, and guide your team through execution, using data to inform pivots or to validate assumptions and partner with the Product team to set a roadmap, establish goals, and forecasts to achieve both technical and business outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for cutting-edge technologies, leading teams, and nurturing talent development among their team members. They will have extensive experience in visualization and explanatory articulation of data science approaches, test, and production results, as well as experience with ML and data science platforms and technologies.

About the Role

This is a critical role within our Machine Learning and Optimization organization, and we are looking for someone who can take ownership of the research, development, and production of our ML and data science algorithms and usage of our data pipelines.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision plans, time off and flexible work schedules, retirement plan with a 5% company match, stock options and equity packages, generous parental leave, monthly wellness stipend, community engagement opportunities, annual virtual company retreats, and regular community-led team events.

We believe that successful products are built by teams just as diverse as the audience who uses them, and we celebrate diversity of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We also realize that diversity is deeper than any status or classification – diversity is the human experience.
