About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior River Engineer to join our Water Resources Engineering Group in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, or Yellowknife. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in hydraulic modelling, water resources engineering, and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage water resources projects, including flood assessments, flood mapping, flood mitigation designs, hydrotechnical assessments/designs, watershed management, impact assessments, natural channel design, environmental compliance, and regulatory permitting.
  • Develop and implement hydraulic models for water resources projects, including 1D, 2D, and 3D models.
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to develop and implement project plans and schedules.
  • Manage multiple project deadlines, budgets, and scope changes.
  • Write proposals and technical reports.
  • Develop and sustain positive business relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Eligibility for immediate registration with APEGA, APEGS, or NAPEG as a Professional Engineer.
  • 10 years minimum experience in hydraulic modelling studies in support of engineering studies or design.
  • Experience with hydraulic assessments in support of engineering studies or design.
  • Experience with water management infrastructure design and construction.
  • Experience with tender preparation and construction administration.
  • Experience with water resources, dams, hydraulic structures, erosion protection, or mine water management.
  • Proven track record of developing and strengthening client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, mentoring, writing, and people skills.
  • Ability to exhibit a high degree of motivation, strategic planning, self-starting capability, and ability to work autonomously.
  • Team player attitude and ability to motivate and lead by example.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to write proposals and technical reports.
  • Commitment to technical excellence.
  • Critical thinking skills for problem-solving and ability to manage and develop business relationships.
