Intervenor (Casual) Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intervenor (Casual) to join our team at the Niagara Catholic District School Board. As an Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, promoting their personal, social, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:- Communicate with deaf-blind students using various modes of interaction
- Support students in developing skills for effective participation in the classroom
- Develop and maintain student's signing vocabulary and grammar, finger spelling, and American Sign Language terminology
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language and vice versa, maintaining neutrality and professionalism
- Provide remedial assistance in all subjects to facilitate the integration of special needs students in the regular classroom
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to support curriculum requirements
- Assist in maintaining student conduct and supervise students during field trips and regular assigned periods
- Dispense and administer student medication, maintaining accurate records
- Provide routine duties and documentation, including health reports and log notes
- Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, hygiene, and other attendant care functions
- Successful completion of the Intervenor Diploma from a Community College
- Ability to work with teachers and support the needs of students in an integrated setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and oral skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification an asset
- Flexible work schedule
- Inclusive high-performing culture
- Casual work could lead to long-term placements and/or eventual permanent placements
