Job Summary:

We seek a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our interdisciplinary team at EHN Canada. As a Nursing Care Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering medical care, recovery therapies, and everyday support to clients in Detox and addictions residential treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care to clients, administer medications according to organizational and pharmaceutical policies, and offer support to the Nursing Team and Physician as needed
  • Clinical nursing assessments during intake and discharge processes as per facility policies and procedures
  • Gather medical/mental health/substance use history
  • Collect urine samples for substance screening, HCG testing, or urinalysis
  • Administer breathalyzer tests
  • Provide nursing interventions, vital sign monitoring, and medication administration for patients during medically supervised detox, utilizing withdrawal assessment tools like CIWA-AR, CIWA-B, and COWS
  • Deliver nursing care, interventions, and monitoring of acute or chronic conditions; administer scheduled and PRN medications to CORE Programming patients
  • Perform First Aid, respond to emergent situations, and administer emergency medications as required, such as epinephrine or naloxone, following facility standing orders and protocols
  • Document nursing assessments, care, behaviors, and progress in KIPU electronic medical records
  • Communicate with Physicians regarding acute medical concerns, medication orders, detox protocols, patient progress, medical services required, and discharge prescriptions
  • Coordinate weekly medication and medical supply orders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams via telephone, email, Microsoft Teams, and in-person meetings to maintain continuity of care
  • Assist in administrative tasks, such as creating patient identification labels, updating/printing forms, and maintaining electronic records using Microsoft Office
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, contribute to policy development, and assist in report preparation as needed
  • Maintain general cleaning and sanitization of patient areas, including the lounge, office, bathroom, and medication administration area

Requirements:

  • Valid and current LPN License from the College of Nurses of British Columbia
  • Trauma-informed training/experience is an asset
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License in good standing

Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
