Our team of 700+ staff see clients virtually and physically from our clinics in downtown Toronto and Oakville.

The Role

We are recruiting a Hybrid Nurse (RN) to join our Dedicated Care Team. This role includes on-site Clinic Nurse responsibilities at Medcan's clinic and remote work as a Nurse Consultant.

Accountabilities

  • Immunization and vaccination education and administration
  • Health assessment and teaching on cardiac risk factors, immunizations, and other nursing responsibilities
  • Primary Care Nursing procedures such as ear syringing, dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and assisting the Physicians with basic nursing skills
  • Administration of maintenance medications such as Vitamin B12, testosterone, and allergy serums
  • Monitoring and facilitating the flow of patients through the Clinic
  • Travel Clinic client education and vaccination
  • Administrative duties including inventory and supplies ordering, maintaining cold chain for vaccine supply according to Vaccine Storage and Handling Guidelines
  • Providing clients with education and guidance regarding healthy lifestyle, navigation of the health care system, and support and counseling regarding new diagnoses
  • Coordinate follow up care for clients including scheduling appointments and providing follow up care such as results and prescription renewals
  • Communication and explanation of results
  • Case Management
  • Triage client calls
  • Coordinate with others team to ensure exceptional delivery of service for all clients

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • 1-5 years of nursing experience
  • Nursing experience in a primary care environment is essential
  • Experience with phlebotomy
  • Good understanding of publicly funded vaccine schedule and travel vaccines is an asset
  • Current CPR/BCLS certification
  • Superior verbal, written and electronic communication skills
  • Experience in travel health, occupational health and pediatric nursing is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Great organization and time management skills

Benefits

This is a permanent role with full-time hours scheduled primarily Thursday through Monday 8:30am-5:00pm. Occasional Statutory Holiday shifts may be required on rotation. The role is accountable for carrying a pager for on-call coverage on rotation with the team every 6-8 weeks.

The successful candidate will receive a monthly shift schedule outlining on-site and remote shifts (2-3 days per week). This role reports to Melissa Fuoco, Client Care Manager.

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year based on location and experience.
