Job Title: Drywall Installer

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team at 2580737 Ontario Inc.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, applying successive coats of compound, and sanding seams and joints. They will also instruct apprentices, supervise other workers, and prepare tenders and quotations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install drywall sheets, ensuring a smooth and even finish
  • Apply successive coats of compound, sanding seams and joints to achieve a high-quality finish
  • Instruct apprentices in drywall installation techniques and best practices
  • Supervise other workers, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for drywall installation projects
  • Measure, cut, and fit drywall sheets to meet project requirements
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to achieve a high-quality finish
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards
  • Finish corners and angles, creating decorative designs in the finish coat as required
  • Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Utilize laser alignment systems
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in drywall installation
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at heights, in dusty environments, and under pressure
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, installing drywall and plastering surfaces in various locations. They will be required to work at heights, in dusty environments, and under pressure.
