Carpentry Specialist

At ESSKAY HOMES INC, we are seeking a skilled Carpentry Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, reading blueprints, and preparing layouts in conformance to building codes. The ideal candidate will have experience in renovation, commercial, and residential construction, and will be able to work independently and as part of a team. The position requires a high level of physical fitness, with the ability to lift and carry heavy materials. The successful candidate will also be required to undergo a criminal record check. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Supervise other workers
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the trade
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
