Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Oncology team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide direct patient care to children and their families, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, implementing care plans and collaborating with the healthcare team to evaluate patient-centered care.
- Plan and deliver direct care to patients, including reviewing patient and family history, developing care plans, and meeting with the healthcare team to discuss and review care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting health information, nursing observations, and interventions.
- Teach patients, family members, and caregivers by providing information, demonstrating procedures, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students, preceptoring and mentoring as needed.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year recent related experience in the designated clinical area and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families and others.
- Ability to function as an active member of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Ability to demonstrate effective CPR techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable computer software.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
