The University of British Columbia seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Science. This esteemed position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of scientific inquiry and education at one of Canada's top research universities.

The successful candidate will possess a strong academic record, with a proven track record of scholarship and leadership. They will have a deep understanding of the Faculty's diverse disciplines and a passion for advancing excellence in research, teaching, and service. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with a consultative and inclusive leadership style that fosters collaboration and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Faculty of Science, driving excellence in research, teaching, and service
  • Develop and implement a bold vision for the Faculty, aligned with the University's strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners
  • Oversee the management of human, financial, and physical resources, ensuring effective use of resources to achieve Faculty goals
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support Faculty initiatives and priorities
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

A record of scholarship consistent with appointment at the rank of Full ProfessorA strong track record of leadership and management experience, preferably in an academic settingExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholdersA deep understanding of the Faculty's disciplines and a passion for advancing excellence in research, teaching, and service
