Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of accounts payable, maintaining accurate records and reconciling accounting statements. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and processing accounts payable in accordance with Health Centre policies and procedures;
- Communicating with managers and staff regarding payment of invoices and providing quality customer service to suppliers and the public;
- Facilitating cheque runs, obtaining foreign bank drafts, and ensuring that all invoices have been coded correctly;
- Collaborating with suppliers, sales representatives, and accounts receivable representatives to ensure goods and equipment are received and operational before funds are released;
- Compiling cash flow payables and accrual reports, ensuring proper authorization on all invoices and receiving reports, and providing updates to the Purchasing Department on price changes;
- Reconciling monthly supplier statements and preparing for year-end and external audits.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent;
- A graduate degree in business or office administration, or a related field;
- University-related accounting courses an asset;
- A minimum of six months of experience in accounts payable, preferably in a healthcare setting, with experience in a computerized medical accounts payable application;
- SAP experience an asset;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Demonstrated flexibility to meet workload demands and a proven attention to detail.
