About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Welding Supervisor to join our team at Pride Bodies Ltd., a Wabtec Company in Cambridge, Ontario. As a Welding Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Welders and ensuring the quality of our custom truck bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold priorities of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork, and Leadership;
  • Achieve production results by communicating job expectations, planning, assigning personnel, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, and holding team members accountable for results;
  • Be a team player and solution provider, communicating and collaborating with cross-functional areas (Engineering, Purchasing, Production).

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required;
  • Certified Welding Supervisor CWB W.47.1 or be willing to obtain;
  • Certified Welding Supervisor CWB W.47.2 or be willing to obtain;
  • Able to weld and hold valid CWB tickets for both W.47.1 steel and W.47.2 aluminum;
  • Able to read blue-print drawings and interpret them along with weld symbols;
  • Previous experience in a welding supervision role in a custom-fabrication facility;
  • Experience in welding/fabrication and fitting skills in aluminum and steel;
  • Good reasoning ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office an asset.

What to Expect:

  • Monitor daily attendance and vacation schedules;
  • Motivate employees to achieve production goals and targets;
  • Supervise, lead, train, and provide technical direction to Welders;
  • Ensure that qualified Welders are working in accordance with approved welding procedure data sheets on the shop floor or in the field;
  • Assign, plan, monitor, and problem-solve processes to meet efficiencies; attend meetings and provide detailed information about the daily production issues to the management team;
  • Verify that the Company's welding procedures covering all joints, processes, and positions used on the shop floor are current and approved by the CWB;
  • Maintain up-to-date and compliant welder certifications;
  • Ensure that the weld quality and workmanship meet specified levels; perform final inspection on all welded bodies/components on both steel and aluminum material;
  • Educate employees about the Company's established policies, procedures, and product quality levels and ensure conformance to them;
  • Ensure that documentation for Quality Performance Systems is maintained;
  • Be available for overtime as required to meet production schedules;
  • You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes, and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift.
