Energy Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Analyst to join our team at the Ontario Energy Board. As an Energy Analyst, you will play a critical role in reviewing, analyzing, and processing applications related to natural gas facilities, franchises, and certificates.
Key Responsibilities- Application Review and Analysis: Review and manage the processing of applications related to natural gas franchises and certificates, natural gas rates, and leave to construct of natural gas pipelines.
- Issue Identification and Analysis: Identify relevant issues with assigned applications and provide analysis and advice to internal and external stakeholders on topics such as finance, accounting, economics, regulatory policy, engineering, system planning, and gas supply.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate and coordinate with groups and individuals internal and external to the OEB, including subject matter experts, the OEB's legal department, Commissioners, and intervenors.
- Issue Settlement and Resolution: Assist in the settlement of issues with applications and other stakeholders, develop interrogatories, and participate in technical conference questioning, prepare briefing notes, staff submissions, and cross-examinations in preparation for public hearings.
- Regulatory Environment Monitoring: Monitor the energy and regulatory policy environment, including legislation and regulations.
- External Representation: Represent the organization in external forums and venues.
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or other related field.
- Experience: 1+ years' experience in the energy sector, with preferred experience in natural gas regulation.
- Adjudicative Procedures: Previous experience with adjudicative procedures (e.g., notices, procedural orders, decisions, oral hearing schedules) is an asset.
- Time Management and Prioritization: Proven track record to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, and juggle multiple priorities at once.
- Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills that cater to all levels in an organization, strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritizing, problem-solving, and time management skills.
