**Job Summary**

At Sun Life, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our DBA team, you will play a critical role in the modernization of our mainframe infrastructure.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Be an integral part of the DBA team with expanded responsibilities towards all aspects of mainframe modernization, including the implementation of DevOps tools and the investigation of solutions to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Market and communicate strategy using PowerPoint and other communication tools to all mainframe users, ensuring that they are aware of the benefits and opportunities of mainframe modernization.
  • Improve monitoring of mainframe database using dashboards and log analyzer tools such as Splunk, providing real-time insights and enabling data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure databases are available as per service level agreements, taking appropriate steps to ensure database integrity and recoverability, both onsite and offsite.
  • Provide support to developers with regards to database topics, evaluating functionality and making recommendations related to new mainframe database features.

**Requirements**

  • Degree in Computer Science or Technology degree/diploma.
  • Excellent understanding of mainframe database (IMS/DB2) and application space.
  • Well-versed with good understanding of mainframe tools such as JCL, RACF or ACF2, Broadcom and IBM database admin tools, REXX, Optim, IDAA, ADDI, etc.
  • Good understanding of mainframe modernization concepts and directions.
  • Experience with Ansible and Jenkins for DevOps and infrastructure automation.
  • Working knowledge of Zowe components, including Zowe CLI, and familiarity with ZOAU (Z/OS Open Automation Utilities) and integration with other mainframe products.
  • Experience with performance management dashboarding solutions, including Grafana, Broadcom APM for monitoring mainframe performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with Analytics platforms such as Splunk and IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator.
