Job Description

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Grand River Hospital.

About the Job

This is a full-time position working 8 hours per day. You will be responsible for performing analytical testing of patient samples, reading and understanding procedure and policy manuals, and communicating effectively with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform procedures related to analytical testing of patient samples under limited supervision, including manual or automated tests.
  • Read and understand relevant procedure and policy manuals.
  • Perform all quality control procedures and basic troubleshooting whenever results are beyond allowable limits according to established protocol.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of tests and instruments and observe and report malfunctions of equipment to the designated technical staff.
  • Prepare reagents for tests as required.
  • Exhibit ability to prioritize work and respond to urgent unpredictable demands for STAT testing.
  • Consult with peers, senior, manager or Pathologist when appropriate relative to abnormal results, panic results or other concerns.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Program (General or subject Specialty).
  • Recent experience in Blood Bank/Core laboratory is preferred.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory work performance.
  • Proficiency in the use of Laboratory Information System preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
