Staff Attorney Position

We are a non-profit legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario, providing essential legal services to low-income residents of the Region of Waterloo.
Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional support in various areas of law, including Housing, Social Assistance, Immigration, Employment, and Consumer Debt.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time position for a mid-to-senior level attorney with a demonstrated interest in social justice, law reform, and community development work. The successful candidate will provide legal services in Social Assistance and Housing Law, with opportunities to practice in other areas of clinic law.
The ideal candidate will have strong administrative law and litigation skills, as well as excellent mentoring and community outreach abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and representation to clients in Social Assistance and Housing Law
- Mentor staff members in their professional development
- Deliver public legal information sessions to the community
- Participate in law reform and community development initiatives
- Previous experience providing legal services in a community legal clinic (an asset)
- Ability to manage a high caseload
- Experience leading or contributing to a law reform or community development initiative
- Commitment to social justice and broader poverty law issues
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Ability to regularly attend off-site satellite clinic locations
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset
A competitive salary range of $87,000.00 to $104,000.00, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including group health and dental coverage, and RRSP contributions.
This opportunity is based at our Kitchener office, with the possibility of working from home one day per week.
