About the Role


Aecon is seeking a skilled Structural Design Specialist to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project. This role will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing temporary work structures within the project.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with field teams to understand their needs and prepare concept designs for all required temporary structures.
  • Collaborate with external engineers and internal teams to create detailed technical drawings and schematics.
  • Create and finalize shop fabrication drawings, including custom fabrication and design.
  • Perform material take-offs and generate bills of materials.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify errors or discrepancies.
  • Support projects throughout the fabrication process or temporary steel structure installation.
  • Design and plan structural steel requirements, including working platforms, access scaffolding, and tie-backs.
  • Provide status and progress reports to customers, project teams, and management.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, and other contractors.
  • Evaluate project construction in accordance with QA programs and project quality standards.


Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) certification required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural design and detailing, preferably with temporary structures expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
