The Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Economics at Nipissing University invites applications for a Faculty Position in Philosophy. This is a tenure-track position located in North Bay, Ontario.

About the Department

The Philosophy program at Nipissing University offers an Honours Specialization, Specialization, Major, and Minor degree. Faculty anticipate making several changes to the curriculum over the coming year, with the aim of making the program more flexible for students and strengthening contributions to the university as a whole in the area of ethics.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Completed or be near to completion of a Ph.D. in Philosophy
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching at the University level, with teaching competence in the history of philosophy
  • An active research agenda in any area of Philosophy; however, the committee would be particularly interested in candidates with an AOS in ethics and public policy-related topics, who are able to contribute to the process of curriculum reform in Philosophy

Nipissing University is located in the City of North Bay, Ontario (population 55,000), in the territory of the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850 and the Nipissing First Nation Traditional Territory and the traditional territory of the Anishinabek. Situated between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, and surrounded by pristine Canadian Shield forest, our campus is a comfortable three-and-a-half-hour drive from either Toronto or Ottawa.
