About the Role
The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled GIS Coordinator to join our Planning department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining GIS data and supporting documentation related to planning and building activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain spatial datasets, including 3D and spatial analysis, information transformation and consolidation, and map development and reporting.
- Collaborate with GIS staff to implement new GIS projects and tools involving web maps and web scenes in 2D and 3D.
- Support professional planning staff with the preparation of maps and data monitoring of development activity as required.
- Perform GIS analysis and research for long-range planning projects, such as urban growth and residential tracking.
Requirements
- 3-year degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in GIS, preferably in a municipal planning environment.
- Expertise in the Esri ArcGIS platform, including preparation, maintenance, and publishing web services.
- Experience in 3D data development and analysis, including the use of software products such as ArcGIS Pro, CityEngine, SketchUp, and Civil 3D.
- Expertise in geodatabase management and data modeling.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern programming languages and ETL software, including Python, SQL, Arcade, and FME.
- Must demonstrate corporate competencies, including Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities and present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of digitization and metadata standards specific to GIS data.
- Familiarity with development of data models.
- Familiarity with parcel assessment data, Teranet products, and census datasets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong cartographic skills.
