GIS Coordinator - Planning

The City of Kingston is seeking a skilled GIS Coordinator to join its Planning and Building department. As part of the GIS technical team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining spatial datasets, performing spatial analysis, and collaborating on GIS projects. Your role will involve creating maps and supporting planning staff with data monitoring. In addition, you will be involved in GIS analysis for long-range planning projects.

  • Manage spatial and non-spatial information
  • Ensure data integrity procedures
  • Prepare audit reports
  • Oversee web mapping systems
  • Deliver thematic mapping
  • Perform statistical analysis
  • Train staff on new technology

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement GIS strategies to support planning initiatives

• Collaborate with planning staff to create maps and reports

• Analyze spatial data to inform planning decisions

• Manage and maintain spatial datasets

• Develop and deliver training programs for staff

Requirements

• 3-year degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science or equivalent

• 2 years experience in GIS

• Expertise in Esri ArcGIS platform

• Experience with 3D data development and analysis

• Knowledge of modern programming languages

• Corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, Teamwork
