About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Cultural Wellness Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our community and contribute to the development of our Cultural Wellness program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with community members, Elders, and Knowledge Holders to provide culturally safe and supportive services.
  • Support Elders and Knowledge Holders: Assist in the provision of group Cultural Wellness services, including preparing and providing for their needs, arranging logistics, and attending groups as needed.
  • Program Development and Delivery: Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of cultural outings, events, ceremonies, and virtual initiatives for members and staff.
  • Community Engagement: Foster engagement with the Cultural Wellness program by facilitating cultural activities and information-sharing in partner programs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the Cultural Wellness Manager, Elders, and Knowledge Holders to ensure the success of the program.
  • Logistical Support: Manage and operate program equipment, maintain clinical, cultural, and non-clinical materials and supplies, and perform other logistical duties as required.
Requirements
  • Cultural Competence: Familiarity with Indigenous cultures, protocols, and approaches to wellness.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of work experience in a health or social service environment serving Indigenous community members and/or communities with multiple barriers to health and wellness equity.
  • Education: Minimum of Post-Secondary Diploma or equivalent, with preference for social services, community health, or Indigenous studies.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Training: Training and ability to manage aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques.
