As a key member of our team, the Import Traffic Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of our cross-border trade activities. This role requires a unique blend of customs compliance and supply chain logistics knowledge, ensuring that our shipments are handled efficiently and effectively from origin to our warehouses and partner distribution centers.

Inbound Supply Chain Logistics

  • Coordinate ocean import activities for merchandise and/or material, adhering to all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations in the US and Canada.
  • Work closely with our overseas team to ensure all import documentation from suppliers meets clearance and compliance standards.
  • Track shipments from cargo ready status to delivery, ensuring maximum visibility and timely arrival.
  • Provide update reports to warehouse and partner facilities on import traffic forecasts.
  • Assist in maintaining supplier accounts, coordinating payments, reconciling accounts, and recording landed costs.

Customs Compliance

  • Submit import documents to our partnering customs brokers for clearance and ensure all ocean containers are cleared.
  • Work with customs brokers on import product classification and ensure all exception certificates are complete and compliant.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to assist the procurement team on obtaining correct landed costs and adhering to trade compliance regulations.
  • Maintain proper records for CBP/CBSA and update our HS codes database.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Customs Compliance and import traffic coordination.
  • Completion of Canadian Society of Customs Brokers Certificate or Certified Customs Specialist is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of logistical delivery requirements, freight forwarding, and supply chain logistics.
  • Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheets, databases, and systems.
  • Ability to handle large volumes and meet tight deadlines.
