Job Title: Payroll Administrator

About the Role:

The Payroll Administrator is a key member of our team, responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for over 600 union, non-union, and hourly employees. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for over 600 union, non-union, and hourly employees;
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and handle T4-related inquiries;
  • Process garnishments and off-cycle payments as needed;
  • Maintain and update personnel files, including new hires, re-hires, rate changes, and personal information updates;
  • Process terminations and ROEs;
  • Communicate Time and Attendance errors to the Team Lead;
  • Maintain and update the training portal, removing terminated employees as needed;
  • Reconcile and report payroll, union dues, seniority, and other relevant data;
  • Provide Payroll and Time & Attendance systems training for new salaried staff;
  • Stay up-to-date with Employment Standards, union collective agreements, and company policies;
  • Suggest changes and updates to the payroll guide;
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Basic accounting knowledge;
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, and intermediate knowledge of Excel);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Thorough understanding of BC, AB, and ON labour laws;
  • A focus on accuracy and completeness of reporting and analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
  • Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification, or working toward designation, is considered an asset;
  • Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience in a high-volume environment with union and non-union, hourly payroll;
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset;
  • Acceptable security and criminal record check.
