Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Protection Social Worker to join our team at the Government of Prince Edward Island. As a key member of our Social Development and Seniors department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments of child protection reports to determine the level of risk and develop effective intervention strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to families to help them address issues related to child safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as police and medical professionals, to ensure a comprehensive approach to child protection.
  • Develop and implement service plans to address the needs of children and families, and provide ongoing support and monitoring to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced social workers and students, and participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • A Master of Social Work degree or a Bachelor of Social Work degree with considerable experience in child protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership.
  • Valid PEI driver's license and a reliable vehicle for use during work hours.
