Job Title: Counsellor - Indigenous Community Support

St. Amant is seeking a Counsellor to support the Jordan's Principle initiative, ensuring access to health and social services for children with disabilities in their community.

Job Summary:

This hybrid remote position is based in Winnipeg with frequent overnight travel to First Nation communities in Manitoba. The Counsellor will provide services in accordance with St. Amant's Mission and Values, policies, and procedures, as well as external legislation and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and family/group dynamics services to clients, caregivers, and families.
  • Work effectively with clients, caregivers, and families, and supervise and teach others.
  • Identify high-risk situations and respond appropriately.
  • Travel to remote communities in Manitoba, including overnight stays, and work flexible hours as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in counselling, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, or related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Previous counselling experience, including individual work with children and adults.
  • Knowledge of community resources and how to make use of them.
  • Knowledge of CCPA Code of Ethics (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and possess a valid Manitoba driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within Indigenous communities/cultures.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous culture and language.
