Radiation Therapist Role Overview
BC Cancer is seeking a Radiation Therapist to provide radiation services and patient care in accordance with established policies and standards of professional practice for radiation therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care through assessment, review of patient and family history, education on treatment process and side effects, and recommendation of self-care measures.
- Consult and/or refer patients to other healthcare disciplines as required.
- Perform treatment planning procedures, including review and implementation of radiation treatment prescriptions, construction of immobilization and beam directional devices, and accurate dose calculations.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure patient awareness of services available at BC Cancer and in the community.
- Perform quality assurance checks of equipment and maintain records of checks and take action on equipment malfunctions.
Requirements:
- Degree in Radiation Therapy or recognized certificate and Canadian Association for Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Certified.
- Within the preceding five (5) years, completion of Radiation Therapy training program or active employment as a Radiation Therapist.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills, work collaboratively, and carry out physical duties of the position.
