About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Pharmacist to participate in the provision of direct pharmaceutical care to inpatients and outpatients as a member of the interdisciplinary care team. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Manager Clinical Services and will be responsible for patient counseling, medication monitoring, student mentoring, drug utilization reviews, and liaison with Community Pharmacists.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in pharmacy from a recognized institution, be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists, and have completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related direct patient care experience. Strong teaching ability, experience in critical appraisal of scientific literature, and effective oral and written communication skills are also essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in clinical pharmacy research and will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy
  • Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists
  • Completion of a Hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related direct patient care experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Knowledge of medication patient safety therapeutics required
  • Knowledge of medication patient safety concepts an asset
  • Experience in evidence-based clinical research an asset
  • Strong teaching ability/experience required
  • Experience in critical appraisal of scientific literature required
  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills required
  • Experience as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team required
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and to work well under time pressures required
  • Demonstrated interest in professional development and lifelong learning required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours

The successful candidate will work a long assignment of 100% FTE, with approximately 75 hours bi-weekly. The position is expected to last for approximately 1 year.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $43.67 - $53.24 hourly, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
