Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Mental Health Tech to join our team. As a Mental Health Tech, you will provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Accurate and timely documentation of patient information
- Establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and maintaining professional boundaries
- Participating in patient rounds and teams
- Completing patient care assignments
- Identifying patient behaviors that contribute to crisis situations and utilizing de-escalation techniques
- Intervening in complex patient situations and managing patient schedules
- Communicating changes in patient status to the RN
- Following Standards of Care and protocols for assigned patients
- Performing Point of Care testing (POC)
As a Mental Health Tech, you will be responsible for:
- Providing and supervising recreation and other off-hall activities
- Providing patients with direction, support, and supervision as needed
- Following established Nursing policies, procedures, and protocols
- Active milieu assessment and reporting safety concerns
- Identifying and reporting house cleaning and equipment problems
- Participating in the unit's inventory system and reporting low supplies
- Initiating activities that promote a clean and organized environment
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living
- Providing for patients' nutritional needs and escorting patients on and off ground
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School diploma or GED
- Previous experience in direct patient care, preferably in a psychiatric setting
- Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others
