About the Role

Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney to join our team as a Telecommunications Expert.

Job Summary

This position will focus on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the telecommunications field, including U.S., Canadian, and international patents.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and review patent applications, office action responses, and other relevant documents for telecom technical areas.
• Determine the value of pending patent applications and formulate a global filing strategy for Huawei.
• Prepare patent applications and office action responses for significant patent applications in various jurisdictions.
• Manage patent portfolios, including preparation of claim charts, and analyze their value to Huawei.
• Provide support in licensing, litigation, and other matters related to patents.
• Engage in training, knowledge sharing, and skill development opportunities.

Requirements

• Registered USPTO/CIPO Patent Agent (membership with applicable provincial/territorial Law Society is considered an asset).
• A minimum of 4 years' experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preferably in telecommunications, semiconductor, and computer fields.
• A strong technical background with a B.S. and/or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Benefits

Huawei offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
