Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our nutrition and food services department, you will play a crucial role in providing expert advice on diet and nutrition to patients, families, and communities.

As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities
  • Advise on diet and nutrition across all health sectors
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns
  • Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition
  • Dietetic Internship Program
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an asset
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting
  • Current WHMIS an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, Familiarity with the Meditech information system considered an asset
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $32.94-$43.43 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Please note that hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
