About the Role:

The Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Emergency Department team at the University of Alberta Hospital. As an LPN in this role, you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for emergency patients
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to make decisions
  • Utilize electronic tracking systems to manage patient care
  • Provide patient education and support to patients and families

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience
  • Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills
  • Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
